Our family is now spread across the globe and commonly communicates via social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etcetera); which is a good thing. However, being so spread out creates a dilemma–we simply do not know our relatives who don’t live close to us.
This site is designed to help us bridge the “gap” by showing how we are related and how we landed where we are by presenting the origins of our ancestors and stories going as far back as post “Civil War.” I believe it was Maya Angelou who said: “If you don’t know where you’ve come from, you don’t know where you’re going.” So, here we go (again) attempting to get closer together by organizing our history–to pass on to our descendants.
Given that I am about to complete my 75th trip around the sun–and have fewer trips scheduled, I am going to need your help. If we establish a starting point as the descendants of James Edward and Zena Porter we can organize as clans of their children. I (along with my immediate family) can document the Joseph E. Porter clan; who can do the others?
